I'll miss President Ostler, but President Fermanis is awesome too!

Letter to Dad...

I'll miss President Ostler, but President Fermanis is awesome too!  He is way into the Book of Mormon and taught institute for 20 years so he knows so much doctrine it is awesome!  I can also read the teachings of the prophets books now so I started reading the Wilford Woodruff one.

We had the coolest miracle this week though with a sister investigator.  She came with us to a temple trip on Saturday.  She reads the Book of Mormon everyday, but has been struggling to commit to baptism even though she knows it is true because she is very active at her born again church in the province, she goes there every week end and ever since her priest heard that we are teaching her and her family, he has been trying to discourage her.  He even told her that she shouldn't read the Book of Mormon or the Bible, because it was confusing her, that she should just listen to him.

When we taught her she was still confused about what she should do so we told her to kneel and pray that night and ask Heavenly Father what his will was for her.  She did, and that night she had a dream.  In her dream, she, her husband, and her 2 year old daughter had died.  They were brought to an office where they were told that they would be split up to different waiting places until the second coming of Christ where they would all be resurrected.  he daughter was taken to the Celestial Kingdom and she met her sister's baby daughter who died a couple years ago.  She was taken to her church in the province.  As she waited there, she felt terrible and super sad.  She was confused why she felt so sad and then the thought came that she hadn't done what she should have done while she was on earth.

When she woke up, she opened the Book of Mormon to know what her dream meant.  She read Alma 7:21 which talks about how the filthy will be filthy still in the next life!  She asked us what it all meant and when we explained it, she said that she wants to get baptized!  It was awesome.

I love you dad, thanks for the pictures

Letter to Mom...

That sounds awesome!  I love the Ostlers they changed my life.  President Fermanis is awesome.  He is super versed in the scriptures and it makes me want to know them better.  When he reads he asks himself questions and I've been trying it and it makes study amazing!   I read my blog you made for the first time the other day and it is awesome!  Thanks so much for doing that I love you mom.  I'll try to get you more pictures from now on. haha!

We are teaching this really cool family named the Evangelista family.  The dad the mom, their 10 year old daughter, adn their 4 year old daughter.  They are going to be baptized on August 12th.  The mom is super good at reading and after 2 weeks is in the middle of 2 Nephi.

Sister A really needs your prayers.  President Ostler's 14 day challenge with her is done and she is going to ask her husband to marry her so she can get baptized.  She wants to so bad and has come to church already like 16 or 17 weeks in a row!  The members didn't even know she was an investigator.

I love you  Thanks for being an awesome mom.  Please read my email to dad, it is awesome!

Geralyn got baptized!

Letters to Dad...

July 2, 2017

Ya i'm super grateful to him (his mission president is going home).  I just had a mock going home interview with him yesterday and it was amazing.  He gave me a lot of cool advice and I wrote it all down.  Geralyn got baptized!  It was a total miracle and there were some funny little other miracles that made it perfect too.  After she was baptized, on the day of the confirmation, we felt like we needed to drop by her house before church.  She is always there, but we just felt like we needed to make sure, so we did and we found her asleep!  She had set her alarm but it didn't go off! haha she had 20 mins to get ready and be there.  As sacrament was about to start, she still wasn't there.  The area presidency also made a new rule that the confirmation doesn't have to be at the start of the meeting, it could be at the middle or the end, but the bishop didn't know that.  As the sacrament was about to start, I mouthed over to the first councilors wife and told her to text her husband to have it after the sacrament and she just smiled at me and mouthed back that it was against the rules.  It made me a little mad haha because we would have to wait until next week.  Elder Fiesta and I started to pray for the Spirit to somehow let Bishop know the new rule.  As the sacrament song began, Geralyn walked in with soaking wet hair.  We prayed harder and could see Bishop and his councilors talking in the front.  At the end of the sacrament, he came down and asked me what to do.  I told him the rule and Geralyn was confirmed! haha it was cool.

We also got to go over and speak at a stake meeting in Pasay.  I spoke about missionary work and used some of your Wilford Woodruff stuff.  Those stories are awesome!

That is so cool about Jack, Landon, and Andrew!  I love those guys.  I love my mission.  Thanks for being an awesome parent and an amazing example to me.  I am excited about the future, but I love the present too haha.  We are seeing a lot of miracles and the more I see, the more I realize that I do nothing really, but every baptism and every miracle always comes from Heavenly Father's help, after we've done every thing we can and know how to do.  I'll attach my talk if you want to read it.

I love you dad

Letter to Mom...

June 25, 2017

Hey mom!  Thanks this is an awesome email!  I'm super glad that I came on my mission, before my mission I had never seen the difference in blessings between being committed to the gospel or not.  I kind of saw it in our family members, but I never really understood it for myself.

Geralyn's wedding
I really wish that I would have read the scriptures more before my mission.  Not as much to better prepare me to serve, but it would have helped me a lot more just with life.  I love the gospel now and I can't imagine living life without it.

One cool thing that happened this week was with this new family we are teaching.  They are the Evangelista family.  They live in a little alley in a little 5ft by 5ft house.  We are teaching them as a whole family and on Sunday they all came to church!  There is Romi, the dad, Tess, the mom, then their two daughters Donna and Divine.  It was awesome!  We had a good amount of other people come too which was a miracle because one of our biggest work days was spent picking up President from the airport and sitting in the traffic for 6 hours!

Things are going great though, Geralyn is going to be baptized on Saturday, we are just pushing to get them married before then and everything is good.  The coolest thing that happened the whole week though was bringing sister Aileen to talk with President yesterday, I was the translator.

For the package, I just love sour brite eggs and jalapeno cheetos, and gummy sour candies, and birthday stuff and another journal and chicken ramen, mac n cheese, clam chowder, other stuff I like, oh! jelly bellys!

For Elder Fiesta he wants a journal!

haha I love you so much mom!

3 Weeks in the life of a Missionary in the Philippines and his letters home...

Letters to Dad...

June 4th

Hey dad, I had a fun week, we've got to be really fast today cuz we're flying to Palawan later, but I'll read it on the plane.  We had a super cool experience of teaching yesterday.  This lady we oymed just broke up with her boyfriend who she has been staying with for 10 years and with whom she has a five year old daughter.  She has been super sad and can't eat and didn't read her Book of Mormon.  She is super smart and gets all the doctrine, but has not yet asked God if it is all true.

Since we didn't read, we read with her Alma 36.  With every verse the Spirit got stronger and she was amazed that every verse was exactly perfect for her situation.  She asked us how we knew what she was going through.  She always looks at stuff so logically, like we spied on her or something haha.  We told her that Heavenly Father knows all her sorrows and that he guides us to help her through the Spirit.  She totally changed and said that she will read every day.  When we asked her to go to church, she said that she has work.  We shared 1 Nephi 3:7 and asked:  "if God guided us to you at this time when you are at your lowest, and guided us to the right scripture to read just for you, do you really think that He won't also prepare a way for you to get to church?"  "no" she said.  "will you come to church this Sunday?" "yes".  haha it was awesome.  The Spirit spoke through us and it was awesome!.

The trailer looks awesome! That'll be way fun for dirt biking!  I'm still waiting on Trans Am pictures (19 months).  haha I love you dad

June 11th

That's an awesome miracle dad!  This week was crazy for me.  We had an awesome experience taking one of our recent converts to the temple to be baptized for her mom who passed away when she was 11, it was awesome, I'll email mom about it.  My view of the future changed a lot this week though.  Coming back from Palawan, we had the same flight as President and it got delayed for an hour, so we just got to talk to him for like 2 hours.

First, I asked him how he has been so successful with his family, since none of his 7 kids have gone less active, and we ended up talking about getting rich at the end.  He told the story of when his business was doing really well.  He went and bought the nicest Mercedes he could get and told himself that he would drive a Mercedes until the day he died.  He had it for about a year but then realized that his kids kept bragging to their friends that their dad was rich so he sold it and bought a cheaper car.  I told him that I wanted a car collection and a watch collection and asked him if that was bad.  He said that he didn't think it was good.  Then he said a cool quote.  "Things tend to corrupt people, experiences build joyful lives."

He said what they've spent their money on has been going on awesome vacations with their kids and all their vacations always include some form of service.  One time they were in Africa with no churches around but they still wanted to keep the Sabbath day holy, so they went to this other church.  There were 1400 people in attendance and since they were the only white people, they were invited up to speak, and they taught about the plan of salvation!  It sounds awesome!  I think that's what I want for my life.

When I think of my happiest memories, it's not when i got watches or guitars, but when i went dirt biking with you or skiing or when we worked on the trans am.  it still takes money, but it's spent differently, i also think that we should try to include service in all of our vacations from now on too.  Whether it's going to the temple, or helping someone in Argentina build a house.  Life sounds exciting haha.

Thanks for sharing about your stroke too.  It really built my testimony, i remember seeing you in the hospital bed and I'm really grateful that you're still here too.

I love you dad,
Elder Zesiger

June 18th

Dad, that movie's awesome!  In my first area, the elders were learning English, so I watched it every morning for 5 months and memorized it word for word.  But I'll still watch it with you guys haha.  That's awesome that they are excited for that concert!  That was the first one we went to when I was in like 7th grade haha.  That also sounds cool about the Jeep, I'll be happy to drive the civic as long as the trans am is done.  Just remember that the time is far spent and there is little remaining and you have to finish it before I get home cuz you have integrity.

The coolest thing that happened to me this week was probably at the going home missionary meeting.  Do you remember when I was a zone leader and we had to go get this sister one time who was doing crazy stuff and it was like the scariest day of my life?  Well she ended up repenting and getting back to the work and she just went home as an stl.  Her testimony was so strong as she testified of the atonement and was so happy that she finished strong even though she fell down a couple times along the way.  As I drove them all to the airport, she asked me if I remembered that night.  I said yes.  Then I told her that I was happy to know her and that she was a great missionary and example.  It was a cool spiritual experience for me.

I also went to this place called Tondo.  I went to smokey mountain and happyland.  You should look it up, it's crazy!  Happy Father's Day dad, thanks for always being so awesome and teaching me through your example.  Thanks for going on a mission and doing what was right and for doing great in your calling at church.  I don't understand everything that you do, but as I learn more from seeing people here, my gratitude grows.  Thanks for all the amazing memories and spending so much time with me dirt biking, working on the car, snowboarding, going to concerts, golfing, scout camps, wrestling matches, and even when you just came in my room to here me play guitar.  I love you so much and I'm grateful that you are my dad.

Letters to Mom....

June 4th

Hey mom!  This week was pretty busy with zone conferences and mlc,  but we got to work for one day.  As an assistant, I pretty much plan for and teach meetings and try to fix emergencies with missionaries if they happen haha, but working outside is still when you see the most miracles.  Last night we found a cool new family named the Evangelista family.  They've got 5 kids and they're super cool, we had a family home evening with them.  The mom said that missionaries drop by their house all the time, but they never let any in, but she felt something special about us so she did let us in.

Since it was an fhe and we had games and stuff, we didn't have that long of a spiritual message, so we shared a little bit about how families can be eternal and the dad was like "wait a minute, so you mean that after this life we can still be together?" we were like "ya" it was cool, we're going to Palawan later tonight, so we'll go teach them in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the pictures mom, I love you guys.  Please tell dad to finish the trans am.

June 11th

I listened to the baby blessing that Caden sent, it is awesome!  Thanks for sending me all these pictures!  I love them.  The coolest miracle I saw this week was with our recent convert Danica.  We went with her to the temple on Saturday to be baptized for her mom who passed away when she was 11.  It was super special.  I was a witness and then confirmed her.  As I sat there, Heavenly Father opened my mind up to feel the joy of missionary work.  I remembered that night that we prayed to find someone to teach.  Then when we talked to Danica at her door and asked if we could share a message with her.  Then the first time she came to church.  Then she was baptized.  And then we were with her in the temple and she was doing missionary work for her mother, and the 4 others she was baptized for.  It was an amazing time.

I love being a missionary.  Sometimes it's hard but it's always worth it.  That's so awesome about Andrew!  Tell him to email me before he leaves!  That's not much of a preparation time, he's leaving fast!  Tell him that I'm happy for him and that he's going to have a blast!  Also, tell him thanks for helping me through the Japanese airport!  He's gonna be awesome.  I love you mom and I'm so grateful for you and all you've done for me.

Hey mom!  This week was super fun.  We went to smokey mountain with the office elders on Saturday.  We also went to this place in Tondo called happyland, you should look it up, it's crazy!  I"ll try to send you the pictures of our adventure, it is literally the craziest place I've ever been in my life mom.  Geralyn will hopefully get baptized this Saturday, we just have to get them married. We started teaching this new lady who is really cool.  Her name is Maricel, she has 6 kids and her husband died on December 11, 2015.  At the end of the lesson, we had her pray and after she said amen, her head stayed down for a while.  After that she looked up with tears in her eyes and thanked us for coming, and we'll go back later tonight.

I love you mom, you are the best.

Letter to Mom...

That sounds like a great vacation!   I love you guys and I'm still always excited for Mondays to see what you're doing.  I've decided I'm not coming home, just to let you know.  There is nothing for me there.  I think i will just spend the remainder of my days here with the Filipinos.  hahaha

A couple of nights ago, it started raining really hard.  As we were walking, we had the idea to go and visit sister Bill.  She is the one with 10 kids and one in prison.  She has been kind of hard to teach lately because she is always so tired from bringing her son food everyday.  As we squeezed through the 1ft wide alley that leads to her house, we discovered that our umbrellas would not fit, so we put them away and got soaked.  When she opened the door, she was very surprised to find us soaking wet.  I think she felt a little bad which was good, because it helped her to commit to read the Book of Mormon. haha I love that lady, and I really think that she will read it.

Letter to Dad...

This week I got to talk to President a lot and I was asking him how I could stay up high and not get super into the world again.  I told him that lately it's been kind of scary to go back into it all haha.  He told me that when you go home, you don't have to give anything up.  People might think you are weird, but you don't have to give in.  It was cool, I'm gonna write down my standards and stick to them.

The coolest thing that happened this week though was yesterday.  We went over to teach some investigators and when we got there, they were fighting really bad and they wanted to split up.  So we fixed them and then told them that they needed to talk to President Ostler.  I felt prompted to just schedule an appointment without informing President for Sunday.  After the lesson, I realized what I had done because President is super busy.  So I called him and he said that Sunday would work perfect.  We went over yesterday and he talked to them.  Then we ate dinner with them and President's family.  It was awesome!  They are both ok now and want to be baptized and married.  They both came to church too!  I have really been gaining a testimony of fasting from these two.  Every time that they run into a problem, we fast for them and it always seems to work it self out.

I love you guys, thanks for having awesome adventures without me so I don't feel like I'm the only one having fun haha.

All of the sudden, like we were in a movie, this guy pulls up on his bike.

Letter to Dad...

This is a great email!  That would be awesome to get a Jeep!  But focus of the trans am first and then everything will be awesome.  The time is going fast now and you only have 5 months to finish, you can do it though.  This week was cool.  The coolest miracle happened one night when we went to visit Geralyn.  When we got there, she was having some problems. We offered to give her a blessing.  We walked in and I realized that we had no third  lalaki (male) so it was bawal (against the rules).  I thought in my head that maybe this could be an exception and then the thought came to me "The Priesthood doesn't work by disobedience."  I told Elder Fiesta and we went back outside.  We had no idea how we could get another lalaki cuz it was night and we were in a little alley with no people in it, but we were obedient.  All of the sudden, like we were in a movie, this guy pulls up on his bike.  We tell him the situation and ask him if he could watch us for a minute as we gave Geralyn a blessing.

I blessed her and the Spirit was really strong.  The blessing was the will of Heavenly Father.  As we exited the house, it was calm and the guy asked us if we were Mormons.  We said yes.  He said that he has been reading "the Book of Mormon: another testament of Jesus Christ" and yes he said the whole thing, and that he had a lot of questions.  The next day we went back and taught him and Jonel and Geralyn came out and joined us in the lesson.  He began by telling us that he has searched through many religions and then told us one by one, with references to the Bible, why each of them were wrong.  We shared with him the restoration and it was cool because the Holy Ghost helped us and brought scriptures to our mind.  When we taught about Moroni he's like "so you mean to say that this is the 7th angel mentioned in the 10th chapter of Revelations that holds the sealed book?"  We were like "yes!"  He committed to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and then he was like "before we leave I just have one more question."  I was kind of nervous that he'd fight us at this point...

"In the 7th chapter of Alma, he prophesies that Jesus would be born in Jerusalem.  Where was he actually born Elders?"  "Bethlehem"  we said.  "Then why does it say Jerusalem?"  Then an answer came to my mind.  I don't know whether I heard it in seminary, or in Sunday school, or maybe in a talk just driving down the road.  But it came to mind clear enough that I could explain it simply.  "God revealed to Alma that Christ would be born in Jerusalem because that revelation was for them.  They knew that their fathers came from a place called Jerusalem, but they had never heard of Bethlehem.  Just as I say that I am from Salt Lake City, Utah because it is more well known than Centerville, Utah."  He accepted the answer and said he would humbly read.

The next day, Jonel came to church with his wife Geralyn and says that he wants to repent and feel what his wife feels.  It was awesome.  I love being a missionary.

Letter to Mom....

This week was cool and there were a lot of miracles!  We went to try and get  a list of all the big families from the barangay which is kind of like a local government.  We went in to the chairman who is like a mayor. And the first thing that he said was "you are affiliated with the FBI right to gather everyone's lineage."  I said "I don't think so, but that would be awesome!"  He laughed and then asked us about his family history, we promised to help him and then he said that he'd  give us whatever we wanted.  We asked for the list and he gave us access to all the information that they had, including pass port info, voter's ids, birthdays, addresses, and anything else you can think of!  It was crazy.  We will go back tomorrow and teach him about his family history and hopefully it can be like a King Lamoni situation.  Everyone respects and knows the barangay capitain.  He is the leader of like 20,000 people!

I love you mom

Letter to Dad...

Hey dad, Kate sounds cool, I look at babies different now on the street and I always ask how old they are to find the ones that are 6 months old, then I look to see if they have teeth yet and stuff to see what a six month old baby is like haha.

This week, Don Don worked with us like every day and is already in second Nephi and will be baptized at the end of May.   I can't even imagine how hard his life is.  His family has so many problems and Don Don just rises above it all.  He reads the Book of Mormon, he goes to church, he's just so different, it's pretty inspiring, I don't know what I would do if that was my situation.

I am grateful for our family.  Thanks for going on a mission and staying faithful in the church.  Thanks for marrying Mom and being faithful to each other.  Thanks for always going to wrestling matches and going dirt biking and snowboarding with me.  Thanks for working on the Trans am with me and the guitar and teaching me awesome music.  Thanks for being a great dad and a great example.

I love you,

Mother's Day (after we Skyped)

I love you guys and it was super fun to see you too.  Sorry I couldn't think of much to say, it was kind of weird just talking to a frozen picture of you all haha.  Thanks for being the best mom ever I love you so much and I'm grateful for you.  I already told you my spiritual experience for this week, actually it was really cool to hear Danica's testimony too.  I'll send you the picture.  Please tell the kids that it is really important to me that they read the Book of Mormon.  It is really amazing how cool the gospel really is, that's why I'm kind of scared to come home and have to focus on other things like school haha.

I love you guys so much and you looked good too.  Kate is pretty cool.

That's awesome! I'm excited for the Trans Am!  We were super busy this week and we only worked like 2 hours, I thought that the area would be dead, but it was really cool to see how Heavenly Father took care of it even without us there.  The coolest part of my week though was at mission leadership council.  President wanted to get the zone leaders and sister training leaders excited so we were able to bring one of our investigators who will be baptized soon, Sister Geralyn, to bear her testimony.  It was awesome!  She told of how hard her life was before and then the story of how we found her, then of how Heavenly Father answered her in dreams that our message is true.  Then of how the Book of Mormon has brought her peace.  She closed by testifying that she knows that the church is true and then through tears she told them how grateful she is for us.  I was crying too haha.  I had to talk after and I got up and told them that it was one of the best moments of my mission.

I skype you Monday at about 5 I think if i'm adding up the time right.  I have 6 months left, but I think that they'll be more fun than all the rest combined.

I love you Dad!

Letter to Mom....

Hey mom, this week was fun for me, it was super fast!  Don don is still the most prepared person for the gospel ever.  He worked with us almost everyday last week and is in like 2 Nephi now and get to church yesterday in his full Sunday's best, we gave him some ties.  It's crazy the situation he lives in,and he still just rises above it all anyway.  He's awesome.

This week we have a meeting every single day, so our area is in the hands of Heavenly Father haha.

You are awesome mom, I love you and I'm grateful for you and your example to me.

Oh, OK I thought of a story for you.  On Friday, we went to the temple with some of our investigators and took them on a tour of the outside.  At one point, we sat down and had a testimony meeting.  I bore mine and so did a lot of others, but the coolest part was that Geralyn got up and bore her testimony too!  There were some people getting married there and she saw it and really wanted that for herself and Jonel.  She bore her testimony about how much the gospel has changed her life already and how before we found her, she didn't know what her purpose was, how sometimes she just wanted to run away, or commit suicide, or give up, but through the Book of Mormon and Church, and the Holy Ghost, she now knows what she wants and knows that this church is true.  I do too.

I love being a missionary, it's crazy that there is just 6 months left, Elder Billarina goes home on Saturday and then I've got a new companion.

I love you mom,

Letter to Mom...

I will skype you Monday morning here at 8am so I think that'll be 5 on Sunday over there, but I'm not sure so please check.

I was at that meeting of going home missionaries, it was weird for me too. haha  We actually were at meetings every single day last week and the only time that we actually got to work was just a couple hours on Saturday.  When we finally got to the area I was so excited to work.  It made me think of how much i'll miss missionary work when my mission is over!  It's crazy!

Even though we were super, super busy, we still had missionary experiences and I'll email my favorite one to dad, but ya it was really sad and scary when Elder Billarina went home, I've now killed (thye went home :)) two missionaries in a row, but my new companion Elder Fiesta is really cool.  He's really young, only 12 months in the mission, I was 15 when I became an assistant, but he's great and I'm excited to be his best friend for the next 6 months haha.

I also just got a new car, it is a brand new Hyundai Starus and I'm excited! haha

I love you mom,

3 Weeks of great stories and pictures from Elder Zesiger

I've gotten so behind in posting Elder Zesiger's letters! But I think a new baby is a good excuse!

Letters to Mom...

April 23rd

I'm super glad that I got your packages today, it was perfect timing.  Yesterday this was my food:

- Ramen
- an egg
- a bag of popcorn
- a week old half chocolate pancake i found in the fridge

I almost died, so I was glad to find reinforcements today in the office! hahaha

I love you so much mom, you should try fasting for something awesome to happen and watch, I never really had a testimony of fasting either until recently, but now I do.  (I told him that I struggle with my testimony of fasting :))

April 16th (Easter Sunday)

I gained a testimony of fasting earlier in the week.  One sister investigator is doing amazing and reads like 20 chapters of the Book of Mormon everyday, but her husband  was kind of a problem before cuz he just didn't want to get married or for any change at all to happen in their lives.  So, last fast Sunday, she fasted with us that he would have his heart softened and that he would see the light in our message.  He then immediately went to conference and I think I emailed you that last week, but this week, the change was even bigger.  He now lives the word of wisdom, reads the Book of Mormon everyday, and also wants to get married.  The only thing that he is still having a hard time with is church because of his work, but I'm sure that will change soon too.  It was the first miracle I can remember ever seeing from fasting, I emailed dad about one that we tried again, I don't know what will happen yet, but I trust that Heavenly Father will do what's best.

I am going to Palawan tomorrow, so my life is pretty far from boring haha.  I love you mom, I'm grateful for you, Have a great week!

April 9th

( I asked him what he would like in a package.....) Shaving cream and deodorant would be nice to have. and sour candy like kazoozles and sour brite eggs.  We did have a baptism on Saturday, how did you know?  thanks for the pictures haha they are always awesome to see!  Calvin and I have different problems haha no matter how much I work out I cant get bigger! haha and now I only work out like maybe once a week since we are always doing stuff in the mornings.

Last night, our car battery failed, so I learned how to get a battery out and now it is charging at a shop.  At conference, Elder Billarina and I were about falling a sleep and missionaries kept noticing, they didn't have a car to worry about all night haha.

I'll send you some pictures from this birthday party we went to.  We are teaching this young mom named Danica who will be baptized in a couple of week and we went to her daughters birthday party last night.  I got to see all my boni 6 friends at conference.  Jonas was there and his mission papers are in the area office so he'll know pretty soon!

Well I'm still kind of tired, so I can't think of much, but I love you.  You are the best mom ever.  Oh here you go, one funny tradition/ superstition here is that nanays who just gave birth cannot go in air conditioning for at least 2 weeks after or they will get deathly ill.  You need to do a ritual shower with a banana leaf everyday for a couple weeks so that you can be healthy.  Just to let you know haha.

Hey dad, I'm doing good, this week was awesome!  We spent Tuesday to Friday in Palawan and it was awesome!  Sister (investigator) is doing good, she came to church again this week with all three of her kids and payed fast offerings again just because she wanted to haha.  She is reading the Book of Mormon like crazy and is already in the middle of 2 Nephi after about a week.

The coolest miracle of this week happened Saturday night- Sunday.  Saturday night we oymed this guy names "D" and invited him to church, but we didn't really think that anything would happen.  The next morning, we found him by himself in the church about 30 mins early sitting on the couch waiting for us!  He didn't know how to get there, but he said he would and he wanted to be honest, so he asked around where the Mormons were and he made it!  I sat by him throughout the meeting and got to know him.  He is 18 and has 6 brothers and sisters.  When he was little, his dad was put in prison and his mom cheated on him and got pregnant with another guy.  His parents are together and both at home now, but they do drugs together.  He lives in this tiny 2 ft by 3 ft wood house.  Because of that, the kids were affected too.  The oldest is 23 and a bakla, the next oldest got pregnant when she was pretty young too.  D is the 3rd and he is a lot different.

After church at about 6pm we went to his house and taught him for the first time.  We had given him a pamphlet and a Book of Mormon at church before he went home.  As we started the lesson, we asked him how he was and he said that he had finished the whole pamphlet and a couple chapters of the Book of Mormon too.  It was a great lesson and at the end, he accepted a baptismal date.  As we were about to leave, he asked if he could come with us, we said "ok".  So he came and worked with us until the end of the day!  He said that he really wants to go on a mission now!  He is awesome!

Haha all these pictures are funny.  I love you guys.  You are the best family. I'll send you some more pictures.  Did you know a guy is high school named Mark Johnson?  His son is in the mission.

April 16th

I just read your promise with the $1000 dollars ( Jeff tried to bribe Caden to play football) to everyone here in the office and they laughed.  All the "important" things at home don't seem that important haha.  When i was at home, those things felt like the most important things in the world, but it's crazy when you meet people here that have really broken lives and real problems.  Do you know what I mean?  I don't know... haha

Tomorrow we fly to Palawan, we'll be there for 4 days to teach at a couple zone conferences and to do some cool stuff too called the butterfly garden and the crocodile farm!  Lately I've been getting like public speaker training.  It's kinda cool.  Over 2 weeks I've spoken in 5 congregations including zone conferences and church and all together it's like 350 people!  It's been super fun and I feel like I'm getting better at it with the practice.

Do you remember the story I told you of when we were fasting and then we taught that family and they fed us?  Well there's a lot more to the story now.  The husband decided that he didn't want to listen to us after like the 2nd lesson so we've just been teaching the wife, with her 3 little kids.  She says that she knows our message to be true and loves the Book of Mormon.  We were teaching her the plan of salvation a couple days ago and got to the part where we told her that she needs to endure to the end.  Then she asked us a question that was probably one of the hardest questions I've ever been asked in my life.  She told us about some troubles she is having and I made her a promise that if she would fast, come to church, and pay her fast offerings, then a miracle would happen and everything would be ok.  We had to teach her what fasting was because she is brand new, she had also never been to church before, but we fasted with her.

She fasted and came to church yesterday with all 3 of her little kids, ages 7, 4, and 2.  I have been praying like crazy that Heavenly Father will recognize my promise and bless her with a miracle, because she kept her side of the bargain.  We will go and visit her later tonight, but i don't know what will happen.

Just so you know, I've known that release date (October 18th) for like a year now, I just didn't want you to start a count down haha.  What is your great news about the trans am?  I love you dad

April 9th

Haha that's awesome!  I forgot that you broke your leg on your mission haha.  This week was awesome again.  General conference was at my old chapel back when I was in Boni 6.  This kid came up to me and said "Hi Elder Zesiger!"  It took me a little bit to remember him, cuz he looked kind of different.  But it was Jaybert, a kid that I had taught and ended up getting baptized 2 weeks after I got transferred to Santa Mesa!  He is super active and has a lot of friends at church haha it was cool.

One of our investigators named G is doing awesome and is reading like 20 chapters of the Book of Mormon every night!  She went to all 10 hours of conference and is ready to be baptized except her husband J is a little slower and had never come to church.  They aren't married yet so they have to be before either of them get baptized.  We were praying so hard that J would be able to go to conference, but we weren't sure because it was far and he had work, but he ended up coming anyway!  Then that Elder Costa ended up giving his talk and it seemed like he was talking directly to J!  It was awesome.  I really think that he is going to start progressing a lot more now and then they can both be baptized.

Kate looks awesome!  I heard from Caden that you haven't started working on the trans am yet.  If you were an investigator I would have dropped you by now haha.  I know that many blessings will come into your life from keeping commitments and working on the trans am.  hahaha.  I love you dad, i'll send more miracles to the others.

Letter to Caden...

Hey Caden, here summer vacation just started for all of the kids.  Here is a funny story.  This week we found an arabian guy, so we went into his tiny house to teach him.  It was big enough for his bed and our legs to hang off the bed and nothing else.  He shut the door and we were trapped.  We soon realized that he was super drunk and we were stuck in there for a little bit as he told us about his birds, the circus, old testiment prophets, his chicks, and his favorite movies.  After about 30 minutes, we finally escaped.  His name was Elijah haha.

Well, on Saturday I watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, it is amazing!  I also noticed something weird about myself, I can't watch movies any more without finding like weird gospel message woven into the story line.  Listen to this Caden and learn of me.  Drago Bludvist is introduced to us in a grand council.  He presents a plan to save them all, if they will bow down and worship him, they refuse and there is a war.  His plan later in the movie is to take away agency of others to accomplish his will.  Hiccup on the other hand does not seek power, but to tear it down.  Sound familiar?  hahahaha

I'll send you pictures on me in Palawan next week to prove I still exist haha.

Finally, I got humble and prayed to Heavenly Father.

Letter to Mom...

haha I love you so much mom.  Kate looks awesome!  You are the best.  I had another awesome week this week.  I sent the coolest miracle to Dad, but I have a cool one for you too.  I was at MLC which is like the leadership council with all of the zone leaders and sister training leaders and I had to teach them.  Since we are really busy all the time, I hadn't prepared anything, but I had to teach them about how to use family home evening as a missionary tool.  I just stood up and started going and it ended up being the best lesson in front of a group that I think I've ever taught!  It was cool it was like Heavenly Father knew that they had to learn these things to help the mission so He just helped me out.

We are seeing a lot of miracles in our area.  It is kind of like Santa Mesa was, no one has been baptized here in like a year but we have one coming up this Saturday!  and the next couple weeks hopefully!  I love being here.

Dad sent me this cool thing about my name which pretty much says that I can be lazy or awesome and I am super grateful to you that you got me out here on a mission.  you were the one who packed me and did all the papers and helped me with the ticket desk, all I did was reluctantly leave haha.  I am so grateful to have you as a mom.  I'm excited to see you and Kate and everyone on mother's Day, but also not excited haha.  I'll email more stories to others, I love you mom.

Letter to Dad...

Haha that's awesome!  Thanks for the story and the name thing!  Kate looks awesome and it's cool that you used Alta (her middle name).  I am super glad that mom made me go on a mission before college or other stuff cuz I would've blown it haha.  I often think of what my life would be like right now if I didn't go on a mission and I don't think that it would be very good.  I'm super happy that I came here, I love these people.

I've got a lot of cool stories again for this week.  Heavenly Father taught me one of the best lessons ever last night.  Lately we've been kind of successful finding people and stuff and I think that we have not been relying on Him as much as we should.  We were fasting yesterday and excited for an awesome day with lots of appointments as usual, but every appointment fell through.  For 7 appointments and like 4 hours, we just got rejected and rejected.  It's called getting punted.  It happens to most people a lot, but this was one of my first times so it was hard.  By the time 7 pm rolled around, it was almost time to go home to do reports and I felt like a complete failure.  We were supposed to be the best examples I thought, this doesn't happen to us!  Finally I got humble and prayed to Heavenly Father.  I told Him that we were doing our best, but weren't good enough to do this work.  I told Him that we had done all we could do and that we needed His help.  Just then, a thought came into my head that we needed to go back to this guy that we had oymed on the street on Friday night.  He seemed ok,, but nothing special, but we had no other ideas, so we went.

When we got there, he let us into his house and we taught his wife and kids.  It was amazing and they were really interested and are excited for us to come back.  And then, just to prove that Heavenly Father was looking out for us, as we were about to leave, they offered us dinner.  We had just met them haha but they fed us an amazing meal of fried talapia and rice, they were a really poor family.  I left that house super grateful to my Heavenly Father.

Later that night, when I was following up the zone leaders, some of them were discouraged and I was able to share that story with them and the spirit was super strong in those calls too!  I love being a missionary haha, especially when it gets hard.

Haha I love you guys, I'm excited to see Kate, but also not excited cuz that'll mean that I've only got 5 months left...

Have a great day
Elder Zesiger

Letter to Shelby...

I had lots of cool experiences this week kaibigan.  On Wednesday night, Elder Fawson and Elder Cortez flew over from Palawan to stay with us before mlc.  Elder Fawson worked with me and I thought that I had the day totally figured out.  I had an awesome plan with lots of good people, but Heavenly Father had a better one.  My plan totally failed, and no one was home.  I just asked Elder Fawson who he knew because 14 months ago he was in this area.  He brought us to this investigator who was almost baptized 14 months ago, but she moved to the province right before, so she never was.

We were able to teach her and during the lesson, we asked her why she thought God would sent Elder Fawson back at this time.  She said that it was because she should continue where she left off and be baptized!  It was awesome haha.

Heavenly Father is working wonders in our area!

From Coby's letter....

Aright buddy I've got a story for you.  One of our investigators, Geralyn, had a cool dream that I believe was a message from our Heavenly Father to help her along with her conversion.

She dreamed that she was standing on the bank of a river with really fast water.  On the other side of the river, i was standing there with my companion and all of Geralyn's ward friends.  She knew that she had to get across so that she could be happy with us.  Her husband was on the side with her and she knew that she had to bring him with her across.

She interpreted her dream to mean baptism and marriage and she is super excited and committed to be baptized now!  Heavenly Father is working wonders in our area!

Mom's letter....

I have a cool miracle for you.

I was in the temple again for the first time since June with all of the going home missionaries, and I was once again praying for an experience or a feeling so that I could  have a stronger testimony of temples.  Kind of what we talked about a long time ago if you remember.  Nothing really happened other than a small feeling of peace and once again, I was kind of bummed because I have felt way stronger than that in little houses made out of garbage, why could I not feel it in the temple of the Lord.  Those were kind of my thoughts.

At the end of the day, President was giving his opening remarks for the going home testimony meeting and he said that he had prayed to know of what to speak of and he felt that he must speak about temples.  He testified of how they had helped him in his life and how he receives power every time he goes.  As he closed, he said that he never does that for going home activities, but that he just thought that he should.  I know that it was an answer from Heavenly Father.  It might not have been time for me to have an awesome experience in the temple, but I think that God set that up to let me know that He heard my prayer and will answer it when I really need it.  It was awesome!

I love you mom, thanks for making a shrine to me, that way the baby might at least recognize me haha, maybe you can put her crib in front of it. hahaha.   I love you so much and I am grateful that you are my mom.

Letter to Dad....

This week was awesome.  A lot of miracles happened in our area.  We got to see 7 missionaries die (go home) and it was super spiritual.  One, Sister Savea had a crazy experience.  On February 26, she got to Skype her father who was dying of cancer.  He was not a member but she was able to teach him the plan of salvation over Skype.  He died the next day.  Over the last 2 weeks of her mission, she was able to teach almost all of the 40 principles from preach my gospel and she said that she felt her dad's presence with her in all of them.  Before she left on her mission, when she was set apart, she was promised that her father would join the church because of her example and her family, like the ones she would come to teach would become an eternal one.  She said that it did not happen in the way she expected, but she knows that her family will be together forever and that the gospel is true.  It was amazing to hear.

I am super grateful for you guys.  I'm glad that you did send me here and I am super glad that you went too to be an example to me.  I am glad that I endured the first couple months when it sucked so that I can experience everyday now the miracles of the Lord.

A lot of other miracles happened, but I'll email them to the others, but I just thought that this one fit in with what you emailed to me.

Letter to Caden....

I have a cool story for you.  One of the girls that we are teaching and will be baptized later in April, Danica, told us a cool story about her and her sister, who we are also teaching.  After she accepted a baptismal date, she told us that her sister, Karen, had been praying one night a couple of weeks ago, asking God which church was true.  The next day, we knocked on her door and taught her and her husband.  We had also prayed to know who was prepared for us to teach that night and then climbed up to the 4th floor of this building we had never been to and knocked on her door.  She later told her sister Danica, so she prayed too that we could come to her.  The next day, we showed up at door and taught her.  We didn't even know that they were sisters until about a week later and until a couple of days ago, we never knew this awesome story about how we were led to them!

I know that Heavenly Father prepares people and He leads us to them if we will ask.  He will do the same thing for you in your mission.

Some great pictures on Palawan and in the Mission home.

Letter to Mom....
This week was really fun and really weird.  I have a lot of pictures for you.  We went to Palawan again to teach at zone conference and we spent one day doing the underground river!  It was super awesome mom.  You go into this river through a cave and there are just 500 bats above your head at all times!  It's super cool.  I also taught a couple classes in a bamboo hut on the ocean.

When we got back, we stayed in the mission home for 2 nights while President was gone.  I had cheese chips and salsa for lunch and cinnamon toast crunch for breakfast!  I also had my first hot shower in 17 months!  It was crazy!

As I was in a boat, sailing across the ocean in the most beautiful place I've ever been.  I had a cool moment of prayer.  I just felt super blessed and was amazed how everything has worked out for me.  I was so bummed how everyone else in the mission got to go serve in paradise except for me and that I just had to stay in Manila all the time surrounded by smog and garbage.  But as I zoomed across the light blue ocean, surrounded by cliffs, watching the monkeys sit on the beach, I realized how much I actually have and how amazing my life and mission have been.  I thanked Heavenly Father, it was cool.

I also got to see Elder Davis since he's assigned there right now, he's doing great.  The other crazy thing that I noticed was once I was done with my little heavenly adventure to Palawan and American food and hot showers, all I wanted to do was go back out to our area in Makati and teach haha, that is where the fun actually is.

I love you mom,

Letter to Dad...

Ok.  My week was kind of weird haha it didn't really feel like a mission.  We spent half of it in Palawan and the other half living in the mission home, I got a couple hot showers, so it felt weird to go back home and have a freezing shower this morning haha.  But through all of it, when I was in paradise, the best part of the week was being able to come back to Makati and teach our investigators.

We found another cool lady this week named Jhei.  Her family is kind of interesting.  She is like 40 but already a grandma and the baby's great great grandma is 80 and still lives with them in the house.  So they have been getting pregnant early for generations haha.  She wouldn't let us in her house cuz she thought we would bug her family, so we just taught her on the street next to her balut stand.  As we started, she just said that before we shared, she wanted to know what we could do to "Mahikayat" you can translate that but it pretty much means to convince her, that Catholicism was wrong and why she should join our church.  We had a member with us and we asked her what happened to her.  She shared how she how she felt that it was true by the spirit because of the things she did, like reading and praying.  Jhei started to cry, she said that her life has been so hard, that all of her three children have different dads and that she has been a single mother now for 7 years and it's really hard.  We gave her a Book of Mormon and promised that it will help her.

As we left we asked when we could come back and she said anytime, she then offered that next time she would make space for us in her house so that she could listen better, an idea that she had adamantly rejected 30 minutes earlier haha.  Our message is true.

Can you send me another cool story from your mission, they're my favorite and I remember them.  I love you dad
